Job summary

Takasago International Corporation U S A in Harriman, NY is seeking a Material Handler (2nd Shift) to support production and packaging operations.

The role requires following instructions, operating forklifts, and using SAP for inventory management, with lifting up to 50 pounds and overtime as needed.

Candidates with forklift experience and basic math and computer skills are preferred; training provided with emphasis on safety.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist compounders with production of flavor products.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions for handling, measuring, and mixing chemical ingredients and products.
  • Package and label manufactured products for shipment preparation.
  • Safely operate production machinery and equipment (e.g., conveyors, forklifts).
  • Apply company safety policies to prevent injuries and losses.
  • Overtime may be required on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain inventory movements per FIFO and location records.
  • Report any equipment damage or malfunctions immediately.
  • Apply EHS considerations to protect health and environment.

Job Functions:

  • Perform all labor duties necessary to assist compounders with the production of flavor products.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions applicable to the handling, measurements, etc. of various chemical ingredients and products.
  • Perform all necessary labor duties related to packaging and labeling of manufactured products for preparation of shipment.
  • Must be capable of physically standing, and capable of lifting/carrying on the average of 50 lbs. repetitively during an 8-hour work shift / consistently for a 40-hour work week.
  • Required to comprehend and apply automated material management practices with accuracy (e.g., SAP program)
  • Operate production machinery and equipment (e.g., conveyers, forklifts, etc.) in a safe manner as outlined by company policies and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Demonstrate leadership in learning and consistently applying company safety policies, practices and procedures in a manner that prevents injuries and other operational losses.
  • Work overtime on an as-needed basis.
  • Other duties as directed by supervision/management.
  • Work under direct supervision on an infrequent basis.
  • Will be required to demonstrate initiative for performing various job tasks on an as-needed basis 30-70% of the time, without specific directions (after learning how to perform the job tasks and when they should be done).
  • Ensure all processes and procedures related to inventory management are maintained and followed. Includes but not limited to inventory movements related to production regarding FIFO, quantities consumed, movement # and location.
  • Responsible for checking equipment and tools prior to usage. If obvious damage/malfunction is noticed or if unsure about operability, report immediately.
  • Responsible to consistently apply EHS considerations to protect health and safety of oneself and others’ and prevent adverse effects to environment.

Educational Qualifications: None required. Must be able to read, write and speak English on a level needed to interact with other employees, as needed in the performance of work duties.

Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment a plus. Able to perform basic math calculations, with the use of a calculator. Forklift experience preferred. Computer knowledge is essential.

Basic comprehension of chemical and physical hazard information and application of safety procedures as needed, given information provided. Safe operation of material handling and packaging equipment on a consistent basis.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be capable of regularly being required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear during an 8-hour work shift.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of materials on a repetitive basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may handle hazardous chemicals, solvents, or mixtures. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, eye protection, gloves, uniforms, and safety shoes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Physical demand requirements are at the levels of those for active work.
