Job summary

Takasago is seeking a hands-on Shipping & Receiving Supervisor in Teterboro, NJ to lead daily warehouse operations and ensure accurate inventory and documentation. This role closely coordinates with Production and Supply Chain to drive on-time delivery and compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and transportation regulations.

Three years of supervisory or lead experience in shipping/receiving within a regulated or quality-driven setting is preferred, with forklift operation and basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise Shipping & Receiving employees and support daily staffing, workflow, and performance needs.
  • Prioritize daily inbound receipts and outbound shipments to meet operational and customer-delivery requirements.
  • Assign work, coordinate staff schedules, and align warehouse activities with Production, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain all required shipping, receiving, and transportation documentation.
  • Schedule incoming and outgoing shipments to support accurate, on-time delivery to customers.
  • Determine appropriate storage locations for incoming raw materials, packaging, equipment, and other warehouse inventory.
  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing product documentation is complete, accurate, properly filed, and readily retrievable.
  • Maintain accurate physical and system-based receiving processes, including SAP transactions, barcode scanning, labeling, and inventory updates.
  • Communicate proactively with Supply Chain and other internal departments regarding shipping or receiving delays that could affect customer orders, production schedules, or material availability.
  • Coordinate with Production to ensure orders, materials, and finished goods are processed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Support the Warehouse Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining SOPs.
  • Deliver on-the-job training to Shipping & Receiving personnel on SOPs, GMPs, equipment operation, safety practices, and departmental procedures.
  • Conduct annual reviews of department procedures to ensure compliance with HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMPs and other applicable requirements.

Job Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all inbound and outbound shipping activities. The position ensures timely receiving, storage, staging, shipping, documentation, and system transactions while maintaining compliance with company procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, FSSC 22000, and applicable transportation regulations.

  • Conduct annual reviews of department procedures to ensure continued compliance with HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMPs, and other applicable requirements.
  • Maintain current certification and training records for Shipping & Receiving personnel, including forklift, DOT, IATA, IMDG, and other required training.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and regularly assess employee skill levels, development opportunities, and training needs.
  • Recommend and implement employee development plans to keep team members current with evolving regulations, procedures, and operational requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, accuracy, productivity, space utilization, and service levels; lead or support continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees consistently follow required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Assist with facility-wide physical inventory activities, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation as needed.
  • Work overtime with limited notice when operational requirements demand it.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager or designated leader.
Qualifications
Education
  • College degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.
Experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, distribution, or material-handling operations.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, food, chemical, regulated, or quality-driven environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with loading dock operations, warehouse processes, and distribution activities is preferred.
Competencies:

General Supervisory, Shipping/Receiving and Material Handling rules and regulations. Must be able to operate forklift. Knowledge of basic shipping and receiving procedures. Able to lift and carry 50 lb. pails. Mathematical aptitude required. Basic computer skills required. Barcoding of incoming and outgoing materials as required. Training in General Supervisory, Shipping/Receiving and Material Handling rules and regulations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be capable of standing regularly. The employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear during an 8-hour work shift

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of materials on a repetitive basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may handle hazardous chemicals, solvents or mixtures. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, eye protection, gloves, uniforms and safety shoes. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.
