Job summary

Harbor Steel in Lexington, KY is seeking a Material Handler to pull, package, inspect, and prepare finished material for shipment. This hands-on role requires attention to detail, safe operation of equipment, and teamwork to keep orders moving.

You'll operate cranes, forklifts, and side-loaders, verify heat and tag numbers, and maintain a clean, safe work area while adhering to procedures and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Safety-minded and dependable in a hands-on industrial setting.

We are currently seeking a Material Handler to join our team.

The Opportunity

As a Material Handler, you’ll play an important role in making sure customer orders are accurately pulled, properly packaged, inspected, and ready for shipment.

This is a hands‑on position where attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and teamwork matter every day.

What You’ll Do

• Locate the correct material type, size, and quantity for customer orders
• Package finished material according to customer specifications
• Perform quality checks to verify that the correct items have been pulled

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is safety‑minded, dependable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a hands‑on industrial environment.

• Knowledge of steel or metal products preferred
• Experience operating or certification to operate a crane, forklift, and side‑loader
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure, calipers, and micrometers
• Ability to read and follow written instructions
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
• High school diploma, relevant training, or equivalent experience
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
