Job summary

Furnitureland South, Inc. is seeking a Second Shift Material Handler to load and unload trucks, roll freight, scan products, wrap items for delivery, and inspect furniture with care to protect merchandise.

The role is onsite in a fast-paced distribution center. Candidates should be able to lift heavy objects, use lift equipment, and follow safety procedures while contributing to team goals and providing reliable support throughout the shift.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of warehouse logistics and possesses basic computer skills.
  • Able to push, pull, and lift heavy/large objects for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks; move furniture by hand truck, cart, or dolly.
  • Scan product to and from carts, racks, and bays for inventory tracking.
  • Push, pull, or lift product on and off lift truck carts.
  • Stage and open product in delivery bays; inspect carton condition.
  • Wrap furniture for transport and storage; use foam packaging for protection.
  • Dispose of trash/cardboard; operate baler, compactor, vacuum, scrubber.
  • Arrive punctually and perform related duties to meet goals.

Job Purpose

The Second Shift Material Handler’s primary responsibility is to load/unload trucks, roll freight, scan product, dispose of trash/cardboard, open, wrap, and inspect furniture taking care to observe product respect procedures.

The Second Shift Material Handler’s primary responsibility is to load/unload trucks, roll freight, scan product, dispose of trash/cardboard, open, wrap, and inspect furniture taking care to observe product respect procedures.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks; move furniture by hand truck, cart, or dolly.
  • Scan product to and from carts, racks, and bays to ensure inventory tracking.
  • Push, pull, or lift product on and off lift truck carts.
  • Stage and open product in delivery bays; inspect product, with regard to the condition of the carton.
  • Blanket wrap furniture for transport or delivery; package wrap product for storage.
  • Utilize foam packaging process to ensure secure transport of fragile product.
  • Dispose of trash/cardboard; operate baler, compactor, vacuum, scrubber to keep the DC clean and organized.
  • Arrive punctually and consistently to work; follow your assigned schedule.
  • Contribute to team effort by performing various related duties to accomplish needed results.
Working conditions

This job is an onsite position that operates in a professional work environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as scanners, computers, photocopiers and smartphones. As well as dolly, hand trucks, baler, and lift truck.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of warehouse logistics and possess basic computer skills.
  • Able to push, pull, and lift heavy/large objects for extended periods of time.
Special Requirements
  • Must be highly motivated and dependable; able to work in a fast paced environment, mindful of safety.
  • Ability to be certified in lift truck battery maintenance.
  • Ability to learn fabrics/leather characteristics for the application of protection.
  • Ability to be trained in cardboard bale removal.
