Description
Dakota Bodies is seeking a 2nd shift Material Handler. The hours are 4:25pm - 2:55am. A night shift pay differential is available!
The primary role for the Material Handler is moving material around the plant or work site with a forklift. Additional duties include packaging, weighing, loading/unloading from machines, and staging material efficiently and accurately. This role requires a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a commitment to high standards.
Note: The Material Handler will operate a forklift approximately 25%-30% of the day. The rest of the time may involve:
Responsibilities
- Moving material around the plant using a forklift
- Ensuring areas are stocked with parts
- Staging material for optimal machine efficiency
- Supporting machines by clearing scrap and finished product lines
- Locating material into finished goods as needed
- Tracking orders and tags
- Following bill of material for proper packaging and skidding
- Performing finishing duties if required
- Setting up valve and burn-off operations
- Performing multiple tasks to maintain machine operation
- Ensuring safe, efficient, and quality production throughout the plant
- Performing housekeeping duties as necessary
- Delivering goods and maintaining company vehicle
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Experience
- Ability to handle physical, repetitive work and stand for 10 hours
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Mechanical aptitude is a plus
- Basic math and computer skills
- Ability to read a tape measure
- Handling small parts
- Understanding and following quality policies and procedures
- Recognizing quality issues and problems
Qualifications
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow detailed instructions in English
- Understanding of bill of material and production orders
- Ability to distinguish part numbers and sizes
- Accurate counting and labeling of parts
- Adherence to safety policies and procedures
- Good safety awareness and efficiency skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including legible writing
- 0-6 months prior experience
- Required OSHA safety training
- Forklift and crane licenses
- Valid driver’s license
