Job Details

The Material Handler is responsible for two main functions. The first is to safely store finished product pallets into bay locations in the warehouse with a forklift or clamp truck to be pulled later by a shipping employee for an order. The pallets are stored in an organized manner and the employee must be able to align pallets within designated locations. The Material Handler is to ensure that the product from the sortation line is in conformance with storage requirements and procedures. The Material Handler also enters product into bay locations in the inventory control system using the Radio Frequency system and scanning the barcode on the box. This is the beginning of all newly manufactured items to be placed into the Radio Frequency system so accuracy is a must. The Material Handler must also be qualified to perform the duties of the Warehouse Stacker as they are at time required to relieve them for their breaks, lunch or to fill in for an absence.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES:
  • Visually inspect the forklift at the beginning of shift.
  • Inspect hand wrapped pallets of finished product that are ready to be transferred into the warehouse for shipment.
  • Transport product to automated wrapper and wrap securely for storage.
  • Scan the 9‑digit barcode on the box and transfer the pallet of boxes into the finished good inventory using the R/F system.
  • Physically transfer the product to a pre‑assigned designated location in the finished goods warehouse.
  • Routinely check the sortation line for case and pallet pull tags that have been sent from the production area. A case pull tag would mean that the Material Handler would transfer the individual case to the department that is requesting the case. A pallet pull tag would be a request for a full pallet of product to be transferred to the Quality Control Area. Transfer the product to the appropriate location in the R/F inventory system along with the physical transaction.
  • Maintain housekeeping duties of assigned area. This consists of removing damaged cases, sweeping the area, straightening pallets, and assists the stacker in maintaining cleanliness at the sortation line.
  • Understand, perform and promote plant and company safety practices, policies and procedures.
