Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Material Handler is responsible for the daily movement of aircraft parts and supplies to the shop floor. Receive, store, and issue materials, equipment, and other items from stockroom. Keep records and compile stock reports.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Receive and visually check incoming parts for physical damage.
  • Verify incoming paperwork with actual parts received.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of transactions using computerized inventory and manual filing systems.
  • Determine priority items to ensure timely routing.
  • Complete AOG work orders, kits and sales orders in a timely manner.
  • Assist in cycle count, perpetual, and work in progress inventories as required by assigned area.
  • Locate, pull, and prepare materials/inventory and deliver or place in the appropriate locations.
  • Maintain inventory and stock roto-bins and operating supplies throughout assigned area using checklists, personal communications, and periodic visual checks.
  • Assist other employees in the performance of their duties with area(s) of qualification.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification and stock locations based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Prepare and publish assigned daily tracking items.
  • Performs other duties as required and adhere to general work requirements.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

1-5 years education and training of similar or related education.

Experience:

1-5 years of experience in aerospace material/parts handling or equivalent is preferred.

Computer Skills:

Computer skills necessary to operate email, web-based and company software.

Other Requirements:
  • Basic understanding of Lean (5S).
  • Basic knowledge of performing inventory counts.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft parts and terminology.
  • Basic Knowledge of material handling and storage.
  • Acceptable attendance record as per company attendance policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to multi-task
