Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Junior Professional to support material handling and mechanical assembly in the Coach Weld department. The role focuses on loading, securing, and moving materials to production while interpreting engineering drawings and BOMs.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of mechanical assembly and forklift operation experience.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery in manufacturing/transportation is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Load, secure, and move long assemblies, crates, and materials onto railcars and trailers using proper loading procedures.
  • Assemble components and subassemblies per drawings and BOMs with hand and power tools.
  • Coordinate material movement, kitting, washing, and disposal to support production schedules.
  • Complete work orders and quality documentation; report progress and issues to production teams.
  • Maintain safety by following PPE rules and training teammates on loading/unloading procedures.

As a Material Handler I, in our Coach Weld department, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy warehouse environment providing all material to production departments for manufacturing the best rail vehicles in the world.

What your day may look like:
  • Load, transport, and secure long assemblies, crates, caskets, and bundled materials onto railcars and truck trailers using proper loading procedures and Straddle Carrier equipment.
  • Perform mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies by interpreting engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions while safely using hand and power tools.
  • Coordinate material movement, kitting, washing, vacuum processing, and disposal activities to support production schedules and maintain workplace organization and cleanliness.
  • Complete work orders, quality documentation, and labor tracking while collaborating with production teams to ensure efficient workflow, on-time task completion, and accurate reporting of progress and issues.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture by adhering to PPE requirements, following all safety protocols, training team members on loading/unloading procedures, and providing work direction to support safe and efficient operations.

To thrive in this role, you have:
  • High school education, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-2 years mechanical assembly, forklift operation and/or similar machine equipment operation experience.
  • Proven experience operating heavy machinery and equipment, preferably in a manufacturing or transportation setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

  • Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA. The starting hourly range for this position is $21.40. There is a 10% shift differential for second shift and 20% for third shift. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.

The pay for this position is $21.40 per hour, plus an additional 10% for second shift and 20% for third shift differential. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
