Overview

The Heat Treat Material Handler is responsible for safely handling and processing steel plate in a heavy industrial environment. This role requires following all safety rules, completing work tasks according to standard operating procedures, and performing physical labor throughout 12‑hour rotating shifts. The starting wage is $25.00/hour with monthly incentive bonus opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Use remotely controlled overhead cranes to stack and unstack steel plate.
• Load and unload steel plate on conveyor systems.
• Load and unload steel plate onto trucks and rail cars.
• Use burning equipment and hand grinders to cut and prepare plate samples for testing.
• Tag and mark steel plate.
• Enter data into computer systems.
• Operate forklift.
• Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the front‑line supervisor.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in environments with fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise.
• Accurate data entry skills without transposing figures.
• Ability to read and follow procedures and technical manuals.
• Ability to plan work in a fast‑paced setting.
• Independent work capability.
• Regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification).
• Availability for 12‑hour rotating shifts.
• Ability to coordinate hand motions with overhead crane operation.
• Comfortable working in high places.
• Preferred: Experience operating a remote‑controlled crane in a fast‑paced environment (2–5 years industrial experience). Experience requiring planning work.
