Position: Material Handler
Location: Naugatuck, CT
Department: Maintenance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Check and maintain stock levels of materials at each machine to support production.
- Move finished goods parts to the warehouse staging area and place on correct skid in the proper stacking pattern per the Job Card
- Check Job Card on the machine to assure what materials are needed for each machine
- Break down empty boxes and take to compacter at shift end or as needed.
- Move finished goods pallets to the shipping dock as required when skid is full or at job change.
- Supports machine set-ups and changeovers.
- Provides timely and complete communication to Team Leaders and all other impacted operational and functional teams regarding operational issues.
- Keeps machine area(s) clean throughout the shift and prepares machine area(s) for subsequent shift.
- Consistently meets production and quality standards and works with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) in mind.
- Other duties as assigned to support production needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Strong understanding of general warehouse, inventory and manufacturing processes.
- Must be available to working beyond scheduled hours, sometimes on short notice or on weekends.
- Capable of standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the shift., and team lift up to 75lbs.Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Ability to use both hands to pick-up and manipulate small parts simultaneously.
- Ability to differentiate varying shades of colors
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice or on weekends
- Ability to work at a fast pace, standing or walking most of the shift
- Can work successfully in a team environment and is willing to take direction from others.
- Understanding of quality control concepts and processes within a manufacturing environment
