Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a Material Handler to support coil preparation and crating processes. The role reports to the shift supervisor and emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

You will move coils, inspect for damage, and prepare materials for shipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Ideal candidates are able to read instructions, perform basic math, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand safety instructions, work instructions and procedures.
• Able to stand, walk, and perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Entry level; 3–9 months related experience or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow work instructions, quality procedures and safety protocols.
• Open/close crates or containers containing coils or customer products.
• Inspect coils for damage and QA/QC related conditions.
• Attach tags or labels to coils and crates; read work orders for handling instructions.
• Move, hang or crate coils as directed; secure or remove lifting attachments.
• Lift coils by hand as needed to load/unload materials.
• Maintain clean work area and equipment; perform other duties as assigned.

Position Description

Position Purpose

The Material Handler will enable basic functions for coil preparation on the batch, monorail and the crating process by performing the following duties.

Key Responsibilities

Scope:

The Material Handler reports directly to the shift supervisor and is responsible for the following activities:

• Follows published work instructions, quality procedures, and safety protocols
• Opens/Closes crates or containers containing coils or other customer products
• Inspects coils for any signs of damage or conditions related to quality assurance/quality control
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to coils or marks information on crates, pallets, or other containers
• Reads work order or follows oral instructions of lead person to ascertain coils or containers to be moved, hung or crated in the work area
• Secures or removes lifting attachments
• Lifts coils, by hand, as necessary to load or unload load/basket bars or monorail hang points
• Cleans work area and equipment as instructed
• Other duties may be assigned

Required Education & Qualifications

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School diploma or general education degree (GED); entry level, prefer three to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The individual must have the ability to read and understand safety instructions, work instructions, and company policies and procedures; to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions; and to add, subtract, multiply and divide. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk or hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
