Job Description

Purpose

Utilize forklift to transport material as needed for operators and storing product. Receiving products and distributing to appropriate departments.

Duties

Task 1: Transport Materials from Machines to Racks to Departments using Forklift

  • Operate forklift with both hand and foot controls, using an 18" step from the ground to a second 10" step to seat at 20" high. Use a hand scanner to scan picked-up product and record its storage location in the computer system.

12-Hour Poly Extrusion Assignment:

  • Transport finished rolls from Extruder, Slitter, and Repellitizer to warehouse racks with forklift.
  • Supply extruders with cores, pallets, roll end covers, additives, and core plugs.
  • Place resin cradles on 44"x44" pallets, stacked 4.5" to 52" high, weighing 25 pounds each.
  • Wrap and label Ultra-P pallets and deliver to shipping.
  • Remove and record waste bins from extruders and replace with empty bins.
  • Support the repellitizer operation.
  • Pull rolls to the slitter for cutting when needed.
  • Assist maintenance during extruder downtime, retrieve parts, and provide general help.
  • Supply the core cutter with cores and handle removal.
  • Maintain personal and work area cleanliness to comply with good manufacturing practices and food safety standards.
  • Assist in training new or less experienced handlers.

12-Hour Press Department Assignment:

  • Supply raw materials to the press department.
  • Scan all returned rolls from the press department.
  • Scan rejected rolls to LO17C and send to PX.
  • Weigh plain film boxes and bins as needed.
  • Respond to and supply the bag department as needed.

12-Hour Outside Person Assignment:

  • Receive new pallets and bring them to department staging areas.
  • Replenish pallets as needed.
  • Separate good and damaged pallets.
  • Redistribute good pallets for reuse and transport damaged pallets for repair or disposal.
  • Dispose of waste drums and replenish drums.
  • Ensure waste drums are securely closed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the plant exterior.
  • Assist in training new handlers.
  • Transport hazardous waste drums outside and inside.
  • Remove liquid waste with vacuum trucks.
  • Scrape solid residues from drums if needed.
  • Weigh waste daily and on Fridays for second shift.
  • Clean plant exterior areas.
  • Deliver supplies to the front office, typically on Thursdays.

8-Hour Dayshift Assignment:

  • Unload delivery trucks.
  • Transport and store pallets of cardboard boxes.
  • Handle receipts and documentation.
  • Count and verify items against purchase orders.
  • Stock and deliver shipments within the plant.
  • Manage trash and recycling disposal.
  • Supply the bag department with materials.
  • Scan returned rolls from the bag department.
  • Weigh bag waste.
  • Use the Bortex Scrubber to clean dock areas and walkways.
  • Maintain cleanliness to comply with safety and food standards.
  • Assist in training new handlers.

Housekeeping

  • Sweep floors inside and outside.
  • Clear snow in winter using shovels and snowblowers.
  • Paint designated areas as needed.
  • Empty and log trash and recyclables.

Knowledge and Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Training provided on the job.

Contacts

  • Internal: interactions with material handlers, crew leaders, department heads, and personnel.
  • External: interactions with truck drivers and delivery personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety.
  • Ensure materials are delivered and stored properly.
  • Assist in unloading trucks and handling incoming supplies.
  • Verify receipts and maintain compliance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in employee meetings.
  • Maintain regular attendance and willingness to work shifts, including weekends and overtime.
