Job summary

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Materials Handler to move, store, and distribute raw materials and components safely and efficiently. You will support production by maintaining inventory accuracy and handling materials throughout the facility.

Responsibilities include SAP/MRP-based material receipts, issue of WIP, cycle counts, and coordination with engineering, production, and purchasing. A minimum of 5 years in manufacturing and strong MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

  • MS Office proficiency; able to use Excel for data and reporting.
  • Experience with SAP transactions and MRP processes.
  • High school diploma or GED required at minimum.
  • Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing setting with inventory control
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is critical for accuracy in records.

Responsibilities

  • Receive material from receipt into SAP and inspection, then store.
  • Issue WIP and maintain traceability of materials.
  • Process movements in SAP and MS Excel as needed for transactions.
  • Receive and inspect inbound materials; verify against PO/docs.
  • Store materials in designated locations per inventory control procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and purchasing on movements.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy; perform cycle counts and year-end counts.
  • Assist with vendor returns and shipping of materials, including hazardous shipments.
  • Support continuous improvement of material flow and warehouse efficiency.
  • Follow safety, quality, and company procedures at all times.

Job Description

The Materials Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, components, finished goods, and supplies throughout the facility. This role supports production and shipping operations by maintaining inventory accuracy, operating material handling equipment, and ensuring materials are available where and when needed.

What You’ll Do
  • The responsibilities include receiving material from receipt into SAP to receiving inspection to storage;
  • Issuing manufacturing/WIP while maintaining traceability of all product related materials.
  • SAP/Excel skills are required to be able to accomplish the associated transactions with the movements needed to move the components in the MRP system.
  • Receiving and inspection of inbound materials.
  • Verify materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documents.
  • Store materials in designated locations following inventory control procedures.
  • Interface with engineering, production, and purchasing to coordinate material movements.
  • Understands and comply with all documented procedures for inventory and material handling activities.
  • Ensure efficient movement of materials required to meet production schedules.
  • Identify and track material shortages and will use the material shortage escalation process.
  • Assist with kit pulls for work order pick lists.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy, including material organization, material issuing, stocking materials, monthly cycle counts and participate in yearly physical cycle counts.
  • Resolve inventory related issues such as material variances.
  • File all paperwork, including the organization of work orders.
  • Assist with returns to vendors.
  • Assist with shipping of all materials, including hazardous shipping.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to material flow and warehouse efficiency.
  • Follow all safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
What You Need
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Excel, Word, Outlook
  • MRP software experience is required
  • SAP experience is preferred as this program is used constantly
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with inventory control
  • Experience in creating transaction form documents and process instructions is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail

This position requires the use of information that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Must be a U.S. Person (includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, and asylees) (required)

Physical requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs., on a required basis. Must be able to operate a pallet jack. When required, the ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, and fall protection.
