Material Handler (Transportation)
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and managing various materials for transformers. They play a key role in the supply chain and logistics, ensuring that products are available to the team when needed and that shipments are on time and meet quality standards. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies are essential functions of this role.
- Ensure orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished products for final distribution.
- Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials listed on production orders.
- Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
- Document materials and record units delivered and location of units.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing products.
- Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signal machine operators to move materials.
- Keep inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials and products for quality, quantity, and accuracy of shipment.
- Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
- Mark units with identification tags or other labeling equipment.
- Handle documentation of work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
- Maintain inventory transactions and perform cycle counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
- Assist with inventory control and audits as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
