Material Handler (Rail Car/Track Mobile)

Position Overview

Safety-Kleen in Decatur, AL is seeking an Equipment Operator at an on-site customer facility to operate heavy equipment and mobilize railcars throughout the site. Training will be provided by the facility to operate the railcar mover.

This position involves 12-hour swing shifts: 3 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off (3/3/2/2).

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, ensuring safe operation at all times.
  • Complete daily checklists for equipment operation.
  • Operate rail mover from various positions as needed.
  • Ensure safe operation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork for waste tracking and movements.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including DOT requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be available for on-call work and rotating weekend shifts for railcar moves.
  • Maintain attention to detail, follow instructions, and work independently when required.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
  • Work outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions.
  • Perform physical functions as per job requirements.
  • Successfully complete background checks, drug tests, and physical assessments as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Hazmat materials.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Knowledge of waste labels, manifests, and load sheets.
