Job summary

Harris American Company in Cordele, GA is seeking a reliable Material Handler to move and manage materials in a GMP/OSHA-compliant environment. You will operate material-handling equipment and follow safety guidelines to ensure efficient workflow.

The role involves receiving, inspecting, picking, storing, and shipping materials, maintaining records, and coordinating with teammates to meet production needs in a noisy manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of production experience.
  • Experience with dispensing or batch-processing and bar coding systems.
  • Must pass forklift certification tests (onsite training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Safely move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and conveyors.
  • Receive, verify, inspect, and record materials in inventory systems.
  • Pick materials from designated locations according to lists or work orders.
  • Organize and store materials, ensuring proper handling and storage conditions.
  • Load and unload trucks using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with team and other departments to ensure timely completion.

A material handler must be able to work in compliance with good manufacturing practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and internal safety guidelines and training, including (But not limited to) the maneuvering and handling of all material with proper material-handling equipment

Essential Functions:
  • Safely and efficiently move materials using various equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and conveyors
  • Receive incoming materials, verify quantities, inspect for damage or defects, and record information in inventory systems
  • Pick materials from designated locations according to pick lists or work orders
  • Organize and store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper handling and storage conditions to prevent damage or deterioration
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers using proper lifting techniques and equipment to ensure safe and secure transport of materials
  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, or damage to equipment or materials
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, removing debris, and disposing of waste materials properly
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate activities, report issues, and ensure timely completion of tasks
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 2 - 4 years related experience in a production environment
  • Trained or knowledgeable in dispensing or batch-processing manufacturing, bar coding and automated dosing systems
  • Must be able to pass the forklift certification written & practical tests. Onsite training provided
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Understand safety protocols and procedures related to material handling, including proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and hazardous material handling
  • Have knowledge of inventory management principles and practices, including receiving, storing, picking, and shipping materials accurately and efficiently
  • Be familiar with various types of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, conveyor belts, and hoists, including their operation, maintenance, and safety requirements
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
