Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Material Handler – As a Material Handler you will be responsible for loading, unloading, processing and storing hazardous and non‑hazardous waste materials at a permitted waste treatment facility with supervision.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices.
  • Loads, unloads, and processes solid and liquid waste safely in accordance with company, federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
  • Operates a forklift and Bobcat with attachments.
  • Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps to tanks for storage.
  • Performs basic spill cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Performs chemical compatibility checks to prevent reactions and other issues.
  • Utilizes barcode system equipment to document certain inventory activities.
  • Reviews laboratory data to determine proper handling and disposal of materials.
  • Uses Department of Transportation (DOT) knowledge to match and label inbound materials for storage and shipping of containers to other sites.
  • Utilizes proper equipment to remove samples of materials for analysis and compatibility checks.
  • Operates a hydraulic baler for cardboard and other materials.
  • Maintains operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition.
  • Utilizes knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, OSHA, and permit regulations.
  • Utilizes Arcwood coding and labeling systems to handle and manage containers.
  • Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed, including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection, and a respirator.
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization.
Education
