ROCKWOOL Group is seeking a Material Handler in Chicago, IL to operate powered industrial trucks and move materials between storage areas and machines, supply raw materials, remove scrap, and stage finished products in staging areas. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, solid math and English reading skills, and forklift certification.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Good math, English language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required.
• High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self or others; promote a safe work environment.
• Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records.
• Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner.
• Maintain a clean & safe environment.
• May be required to use RF scanner gun.
• Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license may be required.
• Forklift certification per OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Obtains copy of production schedule and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas and machines in the facility
• Unloading raw materials from trucks or rail containers
• Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the factory
• Stacking goods in the correct staging areas, following inventory control instructions
• Stacking empty pallets
• Performing daily equipment checks such as watering the truck’s battery
• Dumping materials into scrap hoppers
• Other activities as assigned

About the Role:

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time
• Having a good sense of balance
• Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
• Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
• Abilityto work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
