Job summary

ROCKWOOL is seeking a Machine Operator 3 in Chicago, IL to operate automated equipment and support lean, safe manufacturing processes. The role emphasizes teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement within a modern facility.

You will run lines, perform routine checks, and ensure compliance with safety and process standards while collaborating across shifts to maintain productivity and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of factory experience with automation machinery.
  • Experience with HMI, forklifts, and electronic measuring devices.
  • Good communication across all levels and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to Health & Safety and reading/following written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and run product lines meeting safety and quality standards.
  • Complete 5S tasks and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
  • Report deficiencies and causes; communicate issues to others.
  • Perform daily equipment checks including battery watering.
  • Handle other tasks as assigned.

Machine Operator 3 Chicago, IL 60638

Schedule: Monday – Thursday 2:30PM – 1:00AM

Pay: $25/ hour

About the Role:

Operate powered industrial trucks to move materials and products to and from storage areas and machines, supply machines with raw materials, remove and empty scrap hoppers and stage finished products in staging areas.

What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a factory setting, operating automation machinery.
  • Experience using HMI systems, forklifts, and electronic measuring devices
  • Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and ability to communicate with all levels of employees and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player who can work well with others.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements and ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions/processes.
What You’ll Do:
  • Run Product Efficiently and meet all safety and quality standards.
  • Complete 5S tasks throughout the plant
  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workplace
  • Report quantity of deficiencies and the cause
  • Communicate unusual conditions, equipment issues, or reasons for change of production volume to cross shift operator.
  • Complete shutdown tasks and procedures
  • Perform daily equipment checks such as watering the truck’s battery
  • Other activities as assigned
