Job description

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Material Handling Laborer maybe required to possess and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance and obtain their forklift certification license. They need to have two to four years of experience setting up/rearranging class, conference, and dining rooms as well as special events. This position is located in the General Services Office, Executive Director, Office of Management and Administrative Services, Foreign Service Institute. Under the general supervision of the General Services Officer and with technical supervision provided by the Contracting Officer’s Representative, the position is responsible for room set ups on the Foreign Service Institute campus.

DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and in moving or relocating items to the warehouse or within the facility

· Ensure items are appropriately marked for storage in authorized designated areas of the facility

· Assist in setting up classrooms, the movement and arrangement of office furniture and other equipment

· Set up and clean classrooms (e.g., whiteboards erased, tables wiped off)

· Ensure supplies such as easel’s, easel pads, whiteboard markers, and cleaner are available in all classrooms

· Perform additional room set ups for conferences and special events

· Assemble furniture and deliver items to requesting office or prepare them for pickup

· Participate in periodic physical inventories of warehouse items and items stored in storage rooms

· Assist with space renovations moving boxes, furniture, or equipment and dismantling furniture for use in offices or for surplus

· Deliver equipment/supplies to offices, classrooms, or other annexes

· Prepare reports, audits, and perform daily floor inspections

· Occasionally drive the official government vehicle transporting personnel, messages, documents, packages, mail, or equipment to other facilities, annexes, or government agencies

· Assist with marking and palletizing surplus property for shipment to disposal facilities

· Able to use forklift, motorized pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment

· Able to lift 50 pounds.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Diploma

· U.S. Citizenship

· Ability to possess and maintain a Secret Level Security Clearance

· Maintain a Forklift Certification License, if required

· Fluency in the English language

· Possess a valid driver’s license or state/government issued ID

· Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

· Two to four years’ experience setting up/rearranging classrooms, conference rooms, dining rooms or special events

· Ability to perform physical labor and lift 50 pounds

· Effective oral and written communication skills

· Ability to follow technical direction as delivered by the CO, COR, ACOR, or GTM

· Ability to interact effectively in a multicultural setting

Ability to exercise independent judgement when necessary

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
