Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services in Amarillo, TX is seeking a reliable Material Handler to support our processing operations. You will move and sort waste, maintain clean work areas, and follow safety procedures as part of a growing, mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Flexibility to work days, nights, overtime and weekends.
• Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
• Reliable transportation and strong attention to detail.
• Team-oriented and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate loading and unloading of carts and waste from trailers.
• Cycle carts through tippers and cart washers and perform QC checks.
• Operate waste scale station and record weights for billing.
• Maintain clean, safe unloading and work areas.
• Perform general plant cleanup and respond to spills.
• Follow established safety procedures at all times.
• Monitor daily box processing counts and work with the team to improve workflow.
• Support cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed.

As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in moving and processing received waste through established practices, maintaining a clean and orderly floor area, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate loading and unloading of carts and box waste from trailers.
• Cycle carts through tippers and cart washers and perform QC checks for damage and cleanliness.
• Operate box waste scale station and record weights for billing purposes.
• Maintain unloading and work areas for cleanliness and safety.
• Perform general plant cleanup duties, including spilled waste or materials.
• Follow established safety procedures at all times.
• Monitor and document the number of boxes processed daily.
• Work efficiently as part of a team to ensure timely waste handling.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Assist with cross-functional initiatives and special projects as needed.
