Job summary

Optimal is seeking an LMS Process Engineer to optimize material storage and movement across the manufacturing facility. The role covers receiving to shipping, PFEP involvement, and layout design to maximize space, labor efficiency, and cost-effective operations.

The engineer collaborates with Manufacturing Engineering and Plant Operations to develop processes, confirm installations, and implement improvements across multiple sites, focusing on material flow and continuous enhancement.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing, procuring, building, installing, and debugging equipment for material movement and storage.
  • Proven ability to manage OEMs, including program management, timing, issue resolution, and forecasts.
  • Previous experience as a Project Lead coordinating resources and reporting status.
  • Practical problem-solving with PFMEA, simulation, or related methods.
  • Knowledge of control systems in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input and participation in the PFEP process end-to-end.
  • Calculate storage needs for direct materials including racking and space.
  • Determine requirements for indirect labor and associated costs.
  • Design, develop, and procure material movement and storage equipment including ASRS and AGV/AMR.
  • Develop strategies for material storage and movement and implement where feasible.
  • Create a Material Flow Map to integrate people, equipment, and flow.
  • Analyze material flow and congestion to identify improvements.
  • Contribute to Plant Launch Wall Reviews with status updates and countermeasures.
  • Collaborate with CME Execution and Plant Launch Teams.
  • Incorporate CI lessons learned and share across sites.
  • Help define material flow metrics, standardized processes, and playbooks.
