We are seeking an experienced Material Coordinator to serve as the key interface between Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Warehousing, and Procurement teams. This role is responsible for ensuring material availability for maintenance activities, coordinating procurement processes, managing inventory initiatives, and supporting efficient maintenance execution.
The ideal candidate will possess strong SAP knowledge, extensive materials management experience, and a background in large industrial environments such as LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or chemical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain expertise in SAP and Purchase-to-Pay processes.
- Source and coordinate procurement of materials through SAP.
- Support maintenance and operations teams with material requests.
- Manage purchasing card transactions, reconciliation, and receipt processing.
- Coordinate after-hours purchasing activities as needed.
- Analyze material usage trends and recommend inventory improvements.
- Support Bill of Material (BOM) optimization efforts.
Maintenance & Material Coordination
- Initiate material requests for maintenance worklists, planned maintenance, emergency requirements, and regulatory activities.
- Verify material availability for maintenance work orders.
- Coordinate material staging, kitting, and delivery to designated locations.
- Provide regular status updates on purchased, repaired, fabricated, and repairable materials.
- Coordinate repair and return processes with vendors.
- Manage core returns and material recovery initiatives.
- Coordinate return of surplus and unused materials.
Inventory & Warehouse Operations
- Support warehouse and supply chain activities related to material movement and quarantine processes.
- Lead inventory cleanup and optimization initiatives.
- Improve open-bin inventory management and storage practices.
- Coordinate with warehouse, shipping, receiving, and expediting teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as liaison between Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, Warehousing, and Procurement teams.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, inventory, and warehouse processes.
- Expedite critical material requirements to support operational needs.
Reporting & Administration
- Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and business controls.
- Maintain reporting processes supporting onsite and offsite materials.
- Track and document procurement and inventory activities.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a large industrial production environment such as LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, or similar industries.
- Experience with SAP and maintenance planning systems.
- Background in maintenance execution, planning, scheduling, operations maintenance coordination, plant maintenance coordination, or related functions.
- Demonstrated experience in materials management and supply chain support.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong SAP and maintenance-related procurement experience.
- Understanding of maintenance and reliability best practices.
- Knowledge of inventory management, warehouse operations, and material coordination.
- Experience with repair/return processes and inventory optimization.
- Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintenance craft knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation disciplines.
- Craft training experience preferred.
- Experience supporting maintenance planning and scheduling activities.
