Job summary

Summit Employment Professionals seeks a Material Control Supervisor for our Wichita, KS site. The role reports to the Supply Chain Director, is a full‑time salary position, and runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Candidates need 5 years in material control/shipping/receiving and 2 years in leadership, with aerospace experience preferred. Proficiency with ERP and shipping software is required; forklift/crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of Material Control and shipping/receiving experience; aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 2 years of leadership and management experience.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of shipping, receiving and logistics services.
  • Knowledge of Customs & ITAR regulations
  • Knowledge of ERP system
  • Excellent knowledge of Fed Ex shipping and other shipping software as needed.
  • Strong skills in organization, administrative, and building internal and external business relationships
  • Prior forklift and overhead crane experience required
  • Proven ability to lead a team, provide direction and proactively solve interpersonal problems and issues as they arise
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, high energy environment
  • Excellent analytic, verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel
  • Must be able to stay later than 5pm if necessary, due to outgoing or incoming freight.
  • Must be a US citizen

Responsibilities

  • Oversees receiving process, stocking parts and work with accounting on inventories.
  • Oversees packing and shipment of all parts. Correct packing & packaging of parts.
  • Completing RMA’s for customers when necessary.
  • Ensuring all direct processing parts are unloaded in a timely manner from incoming shipments, adjusted and tagged.
  • Ensuring Lab & tooling work orders are done in a timely manner.
  • Ensures pack lists are ran in a timely manner by the shipping clerk. Ensures product shipments are consistent with customer requirements including export documents, as required.
  • Ordering of crates and shipping supplies such as foam wrap and boxes.
  • Oversee OSP runs and part movement between buildings.
  • Manages raw material and vendor managed inventory levels, optimizing min/max levels of consumables inventory.
  • Solves day-to-day problems with shipping/receiving services, ensuring all shipments are completed per ERP.
  • Works closely with Scheduling and others, including coordinating with production, purchasing, and operations to report discrepancies and shortfalls.
  • Maintains efficient workflow by holding direct reports accountable for quality and efficiency of their work while meeting quality and deadline standards by the effective use of job scheduling practices.
  • Clearly communicates job expectations/consequences of employees by training, cross-training, coaching, counseling, directing, evaluating the work of subordinates to increase their work output and work quality.
  • Attending leadership meetings and new program meetings.
  • Documents and implements processes and procedures in all aspects of Materials to assist in the training of employees.
  • Handles all materials received (receive, review, receipt, document, process, prepare, identify, etc.).
  • Assists in inventory management initiatives including verifying inventory and locations for accuracy.
  • Investigate root cause of discrepancies and take corrective action steps to ensure accurate inventory in the future.
  • Conducts cycle counts and adjustments as needed while participating in annual inventory responsibilities.
  • Operates forklift overhead crane when necessary.
  • Ensures adherence to business guidelines, safety & security procedures.
  • Other duties and projects as required.
