Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years’ management/supervisory experience in Materials Management, Inventory Management or Distribution.
  • Alternative: HS Diploma/GED with 8 years’ relevant experience in similar roles.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise warehouse staff to ensure timely distribution and receipt of goods.
  • Resolve technical or quality issues to meet production schedules and ship dates.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coordinate sterilization schedules and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain hazardous waste documentation and oversee waste pickups.
  • Ensure proper storage and clean, safe work areas.
  • Analyze material flow and drive improvements as needed.
  • Meet department goals while upholding quality standards.
  • Communicate clearly and provide actionable instructions to staff.
  • Enforce safety policies and housekeeping.
  • Improve space utilization and productivity through program implementations.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Implement cycle counting and pull system per product.
  • Identify, record and prevent nonconformities.
  • Lead ad hoc projects as required.

Position Summary/ Objectives

The Materials Management Supervisor will be responsible to efficiently plan, organize and control the work activities of the Materials Management and Shipping and Receiving. This position ensures that the solid execution of company programs remain consistent with the overall company values. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of Supply Chain Economics and can support the strategic and operational objectives of the business. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of professionalism, maturity and confidentiality.

Essential Job Functions
  • Supervise warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of goods.
  • Resolves technical or quality problems in order to meet production schedules and customer ship dates.
  • Adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fastpaced environment.
  • Coordinate sterilization schedule and ensure sterilization of products are performed according to this schedule.
  • Maintain hazardous waste documentation and supervise the pick up by outside waste hauler
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, follow prescribed safety regulations and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Ensure products and materials are properly stored and that the storage areas are properly maintained
  • Ability to analyze material process flow, adjust and improve as business needs change
  • Work to meet departmental objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards of quality.
  • Communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understand material, and provide instructions to all employees
  • Maintain adherence to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping
  • Recommend and implement programs, policies and strategies to increase productivity and efficient space utilization
  • Develop and maintain procedures applicable to the operations
  • Implement and assist in development of cycle counting and pull system for each product
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product and process.
  • Initiate action to improve product and process flow.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Assist with various special ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Certification
  • This position requires a minimum of a bachelor' s degree with 4 years’ experience in a management /supervisory role within Materials Management, Inventory Management and/or Distribution environment (High School Diploma/GED and 8 years’ experience will substitute)
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead by example
  • Ability to prioritize and to focus on details with attention to accuracy and deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skill (oral and written)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem solve
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience in ERP/MRP systems
