Job summary

Meiden America Switchgear, Inc. seeks a Materials & Planning Manager to lead production planning, inventory control, and warehouse operations.

You will ensure material readiness, and drive improvements with ERP, WMS, Excel, and Power BI to support safe, accurate, and efficient operations. The role emphasizes execution, accountability, and team development, turning direction into action and building a self-sustaining planning organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, inventory control, production planning, materials management, logistics, or related operations.
• Experience leading supervisors preferred.
• Advanced Excel, Power BI, SAP, WMS, automation, and AI-enabled workflow experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead production planning by developing achievable production plans based on capacity, material availability, and operational constraints.
• Monitor production plan achievement and drive recovery actions with other departments when commitments are missed.
• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and other departments to surface constraints early and resolve issues effectively.
• Lead inventory control processes, including cycle counting, reconciliation, transaction discipline, and physical inventory preparation.
• Improve inventory accuracy and bin location accuracy through standard work, audits, WMS usage, and follow-up discipline.
• Manage warehouse operations including receiving, storage, material movement, picking, kitting, and material presentation to production.
• Reduce warehouse-controlled material shortages and ensure materials are available when production work is released.
• Lead the documentation and implementation of part-serving processes, beginning with one full production line and expanding over time.
• Serve as department owner and implementation leader for WMS deployment, training, process adoption, and long-term sustainment.
• Use ERP, WMS, Excel, Power BI, and other tools to improve visibility, accuracy, decision-making, and team efficiency.
• Define, track, and report KPIs related to planning, inventory, warehouse, material readiness, WMS adoption, and supervisor ownership.

The Materials & Planning Manager is responsible for leading Production Planning, Inventory Control, Warehouse Operations, and Material Readiness to ensure the organization has the materials, people, systems, and processes needed to meet operational commitments safely, accurately, and efficiently.

This role is focused on execution, accountability, daily operational ownership, and team development. The manager is expected to turn direction into completed action, reduce routine escalations to senior leadership, and build a more self-sustaining planning and warehouse organization.

• Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors, leads, and team members to improve ownership, follow-up, accountability, and independent problem solving.
• Create operating cadences, standard work, follow-up routines, and action tracking systems that support disciplined execution.
• Lead continuous improvement projects to completion and ensure improvements are sustained after implementation.
• Support staffing, manpower, equipment, tooling, training, and storage planning with data-driven recommendations.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, teamwork, accountability, humility, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.

Position Requirements (knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform satisfactorily in the position):

• 7+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing, warehousing, inventory control, production planning, materials management, logistics, military logistics, or a closely related operational environment.
• 3+ years of leadership experience with responsibility for employees, team leads, supervisors, or multiple operational functions. Experience leading supervisors preferred.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling, inventory control, material flow, warehouse operations, and ERP discipline.
• Experience using ERP systems to support operational execution. SAP experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to complete operational improvement projects and sustain results.
• Strong communication, follow-up, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, military leadership experience, technical training, and progressively responsible operational leadership experience may be considered.
• Manufacturing experience, especially low-volume, high-mix, engineer-to-order, or complex manufacturing environments is preferred.
• WMS implementation or optimization experience is preferred.
• Lean, 5S, continuous improvement, or process standardization experience is preferred.
• Experience building KPIs, dashboards, or operational review routines is preferred.
• Advanced Excel, Power BI, SAP, WMS, automation, and AI-enabled workflow experience is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
