Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Mat Pilates Instructor for the Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA in Oceanside to lead safe, engaging Pilates classes and support members in reaching health and wellness goals. You will greet participants, cue techniques, and tailor routines to varying fitness levels.

Responsibilities include creating a welcoming atmosphere, maintaining a clean studio, and delivering classes within scheduled times.

Qualifications

• Nationally Accredited Mat Pilates Certification is required.
• 1+ year of Mat Pilates class leadership preferred.
• All trainings completed within 90 days of hire.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certified within 30 days of hire from ARC/AHA/ASHI.

• Create a positive member experience by welcoming participants and keeping them engaged.
• Demonstrate proper form, provide modifications, and cue movements for safety and effectiveness.
• Maintain a clean, safe workout area and equipment.
• Utilize scheduled class time effectively and manage class flow.
• Set up and break down class equipment within allotted time.
• Build community by learning names and helping members reach Health & Wellness goals.
• Adhere to YMCA core functions and group exercise guidelines.
• Maintain physical ability to lead and participate in activities; respond to emergencies.
• Communicate clearly with large and small groups of members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Mat Pilates Instructor is responsible for building positive relationships among members, participants, volunteers, and staff by actively greeting and providing excellent customer service, guidance, and leadership. The Instructor creates and leads Mat Pilates exercise classes in a safe, effective, and timely manner, appropriate to the level of the participants in class, to enhance physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Schedule

• Location: Joe and Mary Mottino Family YMCA - Oceanside
• Various class schedules available
• Seeking an instructor who can regularly cover an evening Pilates class Monday–Thursday, with a 4:30pm or 5:30pm start time
• Saturday class coverage at 9:30am

Responsibilities

• Create a positive member experience through welcoming participants and ensuring they are actively engaged in their workout

• Provide a safe workout routine by demonstrating proper form and technique, appropriate modifications, and cueing.

• Maintain a clean and safe workout area

• Effectively utilize scheduled class time

• Properly set up and breakdown class equipment in allotted timeframe

• Build community through forming positive relationships through learning names, and helping members reach their Health & Wellness Goals

• Adhere to the core functions of the YMCA and exemplify Y Group Exercise Class Guidelines
• Physical ability to lead and participate in exercise/fitness activities
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency
• Ability to communicate verbally to large and small groups of members
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Nationally Accredited Mat Pilates Certification required

• 1+ year’s experience leading Mat Pilates classes preferred

• All job required trainings within 90 days from date of hire

• Strong communication skills and the capability to work with members of all fitness levels and abilities

• Knowledge of fitness principles and practical applications required
• Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and includesubsequentarrest notifications
• CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within30 daysofhireand must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
  • American Red Cross
  • American Heart Association
  • American Safety & Health Institute

Pay Range
