Job summary

Charleston Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in Charleston, WV, seeks a Substance Use Counselor to support patients in an outpatient MAT program. You will conduct individual and group counseling, document care plans, and coordinate with medical staff and case managers.

The role emphasizes early morning hours, compassionate care, and strong knowledge of evidence-based practices. Bachelor’s or Master’s in social/health services is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social or health services field required.
• Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices (CBT, MI, relapse prevention).
• Documentation experience with clinical notes and treatment plans.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2).
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate counseling in individual and group sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient’s recovery.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and clearly.
• Prepare individual treatment plans and conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine referrals to other programs.
• Provide crisis intervention and case management as needed.
• Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients.
