Job summary

Fivestar in Hartford, CT is seeking an experienced CNC programmer and machinist to create, refine, and optimize Mastercam programs for 2–5 axis work on lathes and mills. You will set up CNC lathes, verify dimensions, and partner with engineering to maximize throughput.

Ideal candidates have hands-on CNC programming experience, strong CAM skills (Mastercam), and familiarity with Siemens controls and CamPlete Verification Software, plus the ability to read blueprints with high attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Hands-on CNC programming experience.
• Strong CAM proficiency, especially with Mastercam.
• Experience with Siemens controls and CamPlete Verification Software.
• Deep understanding of CNC lathe operations and core machining principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training/certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create, refine, and optimize CNC programs in Mastercam for 2–5 axis work (lathe and mill).
• Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce precise components that meet print and process specs.
• Partner with engineering and production to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and throughput.
• Inspect parts, verify dimensions, and confirm conformance to customer requirements.
• Troubleshoot machining and programming issues and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain clear documentation for programs, setups, and revisions.
• Stay current with CNC advancements and best practices.
