Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
• Lay out, measure, position, align, and fit components for welding.
• Weld using arc, MIG (GMAW), submerged arc, and other processes.
• Use precision tools to verify dimensions to the thousandth of an inch.
• Troubleshoot welding and fabrication issues and build fixtures for repeatable parts.
• Weld up to 3" plate and in all positions as needed.

Hi-Vac Corporation, located in Marietta, Ohio, is seeking Master Welder/Fabricators. Hi-Vac is a rapidly growing company specializing in the dynamic and diverse vacuum truck technology. The Fabricator builds high-precision components and complex assemblies from technical drawings or blueprints lays out, fits and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, and industrial vacuum components.

Responsibilities may include

• Demonstrated ability to read and understand shop drawings, fabrication drawings, construction drawings, and other drawings applicable to production activities.
• Demonstrated ability to lay out, measure, position, align, and fit components for welding.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc or gas welding equipment.
• Uses precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, etc. to check material, parts, and tooling to the thousandth of an inch.
• Applies basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) to production activities, such as cutting parts to size or putting multiple parts together in an assembly
• Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve welding and fabrication issues effectively.
• Design and build custom jigs or fixtures to make production parts repeatable.
• Able to design, fabricate and weld components without blueprints as needed.
• Discusses errors in diagrams or production order with supervisor or engineer to clarify production problems.
• Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
• Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and reassembling parts.
• Competently welds up to 3" plate.
• Able to weld in all positions.
• Capable of welding with solid wire and flux core wire.
• Must be an expert at (GMAW) Mig welding and can set amps, volts, and utilize various shielding gases.
• Facilitates and/or performs corrective action if problems are noted in function or appearance.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Technical or vocational program, trade school, or industry training preferred
• Heavy fabrication and repair experience is required.
