The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience, mastery in multiple welding techniques (GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, etc.), and will be responsible for leading shifts with a focus on quality. Vocational training is a plus.

A Master Welder is a highly skilled welder with proven experience in all aspects of welding. At a minimum this candidate can meet the requirements of Welder and Welding Operator at the highest standard. This person will have multiple qualifications in each process and these qualifications will be at the highest skill level. This individual supports company objectives through superior productivity and quality and takes initiative to improve processes while leading others by example. Attendance is impeccable and has no disciplinary issues.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, not required
• Vocational diploma or training in welding a plus
• Minimum 5 years’ experience

• Have mastered and have excellent proven understanding of all of the processes performed by C&J. This includes but is not limited to: GTAW, GTAW‑P, Tri‑Pulse, SMAW, SAW, PAW, GMAW or FCAW
• Ability to perform open root welding in fixed positions
• Leads the workforce on assigned shifts with a high focus on quality
• Takes ownership over the results of work performed and defines the requirements of work instructions, welding procedures and supervisor/team lead direction
• Keep a neat and tidy work area at all times. All tools to be neatly stored and kept in good condition
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning of both your area and other areas of the shop when assigned, this includes taking out trash, sweeping, mopping & straightening
• Grind, polish, wire wheel and prepare parts for welding as instructed
• Use cleaners to clean parts before welding
• Can read and understand blue prints and welding drawings to properly lay out parts
• Can perform math including algebra and basic trigonometry
• Can read and understand welding procedures to the fullest extent
• Maintain an impeccable attendance record (no tardies and no unexcused absences)
• Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers, customers, third party representatives and others as required
• Must be available to work overtime as required
• Must be available to work rotating shifts or night shift as required
• Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
• Trains and mentors lower level employees
• Can act as Team Leader in day-to-day operations when needed
• Follow daily procedures and protocols as provided in job orientations and trainings
• Understands and drives company objectives to the team
