Job summary

4C2 Industrial is seeking a Journeyman Welder to weld steel, aluminum, and stainless steel parts. You will read blueprints and use MIG, TIG, and Stick processes as required to form strong bonds.

You will set up equipment, join components in multiple positions, inspect welds for quality, and maintain a safe workspace. Travel and overtime may be required; a valid driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications and prepare materials.
  • Weld components in various positions and inspect weld quality to meet specifications.
  • Maintain safety and comply with company policies and procedures.

Job description

4C2 is currently seeking a JOURNEYMAN WELDER. Individual is responsible for permanently fitting and welding of various metals to include but not limited to; steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. May specialize in one of hundreds of different processes of welding to join metals together. Certification may be required depending on job specifications.

About the Role

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following Essential Duties satisfactorily.

1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
2. Be proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) as required
3. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
4. Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws
to match measurements)
5. Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
6. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
7. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical,
horizontal or overhead)
8. Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
9. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
10. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
11. Determine welding position and type of metal to be fused
12. Ensure welds meet standards and specifications
14. Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of these essential duties
15. Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the
performance if these essential duties
16. Maintain valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy
17. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
18. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
19. Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations
  • Work at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildings
  • Must be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, reaching, and/or gripping frequently, climbing, pulling and pushing
  • Subject to drug screening and background checks
  • May lift and carry heavy objects, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions
  • Must be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities
Safety Sensitive

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position as it requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time while: operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles. This work will often be done with and around hazardous materials at elevated heights and confined spaces. A lapse of attention on the job could result in injury, illness, or death.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • 3 years experience
  • Welder’s certification may be required depending of job specifications
  • Knowledge of welding, structural brake forming and other fabrication processes along with automated welding techniques
  • Ability to weld different types of material such as stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum
  • Ability to communicate clearly with other employees
  • All employees must provide and maintain the required tool inventory for this position
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
  • A current valid driver’s license or government issued ID is required
  • Ability to travel and work outof town is a plus
