4C2 Industrial is seeking a Journeyman Welder to permanently fit and weld various metals—including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel—using high‑heat applications to form permanent bonds. The role may specialize in one welding process, and certification may be required depending on job specifications.

You will read blueprints, set up components, weld in multiple positions, test welds, and ensure safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of welding, fabrication processes, and finishing techniques.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings, take measurements, and plan layout.

Job Summary

4C2 is currently seeking a Journeyman Welder. The individual will permanently fit and weld various metals—including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel—using high‑heat applications to form permanent bonds. The position may specialize in one of many welding processes, and certification may be required depending on job specifications.

About the Role

The role requires the ability to perform each of the following essential duties:

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings, take measurements, and plan layout and procedures.
• Be proficient in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) as required.
• Select the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications, including cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
• Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding.
• Align components using calipers, rulers, etc., and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semi‑automatic equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).
• Repair machinery and other components by filling gaps with welding.
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Determine welding position and type of metal to be fused.
• Ensure welds meet standards and specifications.
• Operate heavy equipment and machinery as required.
• Work with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and in confined spaces.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company policy.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Exposure to varying indoor and outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals, and fumes; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavations.
• Work at heights, such as on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi‑story buildings, and in confined spaces underneath buildings.
• Perform manual and repetitive tasks, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, gripping, climbing, pulling, and pushing for long periods.
• Subject to drug screening and background checks.
• Lifting and carrying heavy objects; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in awkward positions.
• Complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and priorities.

Safety Sensitive

This position is safety‑sensitive and requires sustained concentration while operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles near hazardous materials, elevated heights, and confined spaces. A lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death.

Skills & Competencies

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience.
• Welder’s certification may be required depending on job specifications.
• Knowledge of welding, structural brake forming, and other fabrication processes, including automated welding techniques.
• Ability to weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
• Clear communication with other employees.
• Maintain required tool inventory.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Complete daily tasks with minimal supervision and low re‑work.
• Willingness to work overtime and non‑standard schedules (nights, weekends, holidays as needed).

Additional Requirements

• Current valid driver’s license or government‑issued ID.
• Ability to travel and work out of town is a plus.
