GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality services focusing on the guest’s overall look, support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM), and aim to meet performance, people, and process goals. Passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Perform hair design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contribute to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Demonstrate products to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain prompt attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
• Develop professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques and ability to learn new skills.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell hair care and makeup products.
