GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

• Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 and contributing to store goals related to retail, service sales, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.

People

• Developing guest relationships through effective consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Partnering with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
• Attending mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
• Adhering to service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking and client systems effectively.
• Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Following dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Executing other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant prior work experience required
