GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s overall look and support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties and other assigned tasks:

Performance

• Perform various hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250, contributing to store targets in retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits to serve guests better.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

People

• Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Provide timely and efficient service to all guests, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team to offer comprehensive guest experiences.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Use established service protocols to ensure consistency and excellence in guest experiences.
• Utilize booking and client management systems effectively.
• Report supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards across the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and protect company assets through loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required

Experience

• Previous relevant work experience required

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further
• Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical work
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products
