Job summary

Spry Methods is seeking a Master Scheduler to develop and manage complex schedules for multiple programs, leveraging Microsoft Project and IMS expertise. You will work with project managers, executives, and stakeholders to ensure accurate, actionable schedule data reflecting scope, resources, and risks.

The role requires PMI-SP certification, DoD program experience, and strong analytical and communication skills. Proficiency with Primavera P6 and BI tooling is valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Extensive experience developing and managing complex project schedules.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience managing integrated master schedules for large programs.
  • Ability to analyze schedule performance and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • PMI-SP certification.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Experience supporting DoD/government programs.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Project Online, or MS Project Server.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage complex IMS for multiple projects.
  • Create schedules from WBS, project plans, and requirements.
  • Define task sequences, dependencies, milestones, and resources.
  • Maintain schedule integrity with QA and CM practices.
  • Perform critical path, float, variance, and trend analyses.
  • Develop baselines and document approved changes.
  • Lead schedule status reviews with managers and leadership.
  • Prepare executive-level schedule reports and dashboards.
  • Identify schedule risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with priorities, resources, and objectives.
  • Provide guidance on MS Project functionality and scheduling best practices.
  • Develop scheduling templates and standard reporting mechanisms.
  • Train project managers and teams in scheduling techniques.
  • Support planning, forecasting, and portfolio scheduling activities.
  • Coordinate cross-project schedule integration and resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure compliance with scheduling standards and contractual requirements.

Who We're Looking For (Position Overview):

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting comprehensive project and program schedules that support organizational planning, execution, and decision-making. This position serves as the organization’s subject matter expert for schedule management and Microsoft Project, ensuring schedules accurately reflect scope, resources, dependencies, milestones, risks, and critical paths. The Master Scheduler collaborates with project managers, functional leads, executives, and stakeholders to provide timely, accurate, and actionable schedule information that supports informed decision-making and effective program execution.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • • Develop, maintain, and manage complex integrated master schedules (IMS) for multiple projects and programs.
  • • Build project schedules from work breakdown structures (WBS), project plans, and program requirements.
  • • Establish logical task sequencing, predecessor/successor relationships, dependencies, milestones, constraints, and resource assignments.
  • • Maintain schedule integrity through regular validation, quality assurance, and configuration management practices.
  • • Perform critical path, float, schedule variance, and trend analyses to identify potential risks and impacts to project execution.
  • • Develop and maintain schedule baselines and document approved schedule changes.
  • • Conduct schedule status reviews with project managers, functional managers, and leadership.
  • • Prepare executive-level schedule reports, dashboards, and briefings.
  • • Identify schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • • Ensure schedule alignment with organizational priorities, resource availability, and program objectives.
  • • Provide expert guidance on Microsoft Project functionality, scheduling methodologies, and best practices.
  • • Develop standardized scheduling processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms.
  • • Train project managers and team members in scheduling techniques and Microsoft Project usage.
  • • Support project planning, resource forecasting, and portfolio-level scheduling activities.
  • • Coordinate schedule integration across multiple projects to identify interdependencies and resource conflicts.
  • • Ensure compliance with organizational scheduling standards, policies, and contractual requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • • Extensive experience developing and managing complex project schedules.
  • • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project.
