Job summary

Seaman Paper Company is seeking a Master Mechanic for its Otter River, MA mill. The role is a six-day-per-week, union-based position with base pay and overtime after eight hours, including time-and-a-half on Saturdays and double-time on Sundays.

Candidate must have experience with mill equipment, pumps, welding, and be able to read prints and drawings. The position requires independent work, tool ownership, and Mass Hoisting Class 2B/2A license within 60–90 days.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing mill equipment and pumps.
• Ability to rebuild pumps and install bearings.
• Welding and cutting using appropriate equipment.
• Ability to read prints and drawings.
• Experience operating front end loaders, backhoes, and plow trucks.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs on mill equipment and pumps.
• Rebuild pumps and install bearings as needed.
• Utilize welding and cutting equipment for maintenance tasks.
• Work independently and coordinate with maintenance team, vendors, and supervisors.
• Follow prints and drawings to execute repairs.
• Be on-call nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Attend scheduled maintenance shutdowns and holidays.

Seaman Paper Company is hiring a Master Mechanic for its paper mill location in Otter River, Mass. The position is a six day a week position. Position is a union based position with base pay, overtime after eight hours and time and a half for Saturday and double time for Sunday. Position requires experience in:

Mechanical repairs to mill equipment, pumps, etc.

Ability to rebuild pumps and install bearings.

Ability to utilize welding and cutting equipment.

Ability to work independently. Ability to manage work loads down to maintenance team members, vendors etc.

Ability to look at and understand prints and drawings.

Ability to operate company equipment- front end loader, back hoe, plow truck.

Candidate will be required to carry a company phone and be responsible for call in as needed to install, maintain and repair mill equipment. (Nights, Weekends, Holidays)

Position is required to work all scheduled maintenance shutdowns including holidays.

Successful candidate must provide own set of tools.

Mass Hoisting Class 2B (or 2A) license within 60-90 days of start in position for operation of backhoe or front-end loader.
