Job summary

Jefferson County’s General Services department is seeking a qualified Locksmith to install, repair, and maintain locks, make keys, change lock combinations, and service safes. The role includes inventory management, tool maintenance, and mentoring an apprentice as needed.

The ideal candidate holds a valid driver's license and is a Certified Facility Locksmith. Strong technical skills, precision, and attention to detail are essential to succeed in this position at Jefferson County.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License is required.
• Certified Facility Locksmith from the National Locksmith Institute is required.
• Strong technical skills, precision and attention to detail preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, plans, executes, and monitors locksmith projects.
• Repairs and opens locks, makes keys, changes locks and safe combinations, installs and repairs safes.
• Maintains workspace and equipment and tracks locksmith-related jobs and performance.
• Reviews work orders from supervisor to determine customer needs.
• Trains others (e.g., apprentice) in locksmithing and safety practices.
• Repairs safes, vault doors and components using hand tools and power tools.
• Calibrates locksmith equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Documents labor hours and equipment used for each project.
