Job summary

Jefferson County is seeking a qualified Locksmith to join the General Services Department. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining locks, making keys, changing locks and safe combinations, and servicing safes.

You will manage inventory, tools, and supervise apprentices as needed while ensuring precision and safety in all tasks. Qualified candidates will have a valid driver’s license and certification as a Facility Locksmith.

Responsibilities

• Initiates, plans, executes, and monitors locksmith projects.
• Repairs and opens locks; makes keys; changes locks and safe combinations; installs and repairs safes.
• Maintains workspace and equipment; tracks locksmith-related jobs and performance.
• Reviews work orders to determine customer needs.
• Trains apprentices regarding locksmithing and safety practices.
