Job summary

United Utility is seeking a Journeyman Lineman in Lexington, NC to safely install, troubleshoot, repair and remove distribution power lines both overhead and underground. You will operate bucket and digger trucks, string lines, and use insulating equipment under direction of Foreman.

This role includes on-the-job training of apprentices, inspections of equipment, and potential oversight of crews in Foreman’s absence.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; 4+ years in energized high-voltage lines.
Must hold CDL-A with clean driving record.
Ability to read manuals, policies, blueprints, and diagrams.
Capable of handling emergencies, hazards, and competing priorities.
Leadership to train assigned personnel safely and effectively.
Ability to communicate in English, both spoken and written.
Prepare Job Hazard Analysis pre/post meetings.
Dependable and trustworthy.
Train for foreman responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, repair and remove distribution lines (overhead/underground).
Operate bucket, digger, and pickup trucks and related equipment.
Provide on-the-job training for groundmen and apprentices.
Inspect equipment and document repairs or tests.
Work with transformers, regulators, meters and switchgear.
Follow safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
Coordinate with crew and manage paperwork and permits.
Climb structures/poles and work from aerial platforms.
Supervise tasks or act as Foreman in Foreman’s absence.
