Job summary

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is seeking a Master Level Clinician to join the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team in the Houston area. You will perform crisis assessments, provide crisis counseling, and coordinate case management to connect clients with services.

You will work under the Program Director or Clinical Team Lead, documenting daily in MCOT guidelines and maintaining trauma‑informed practice. A Texas license and master’s degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, human development, or educational psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Clinical license in Texas: LPC‑A, LMSW, or LMFT‑A.

Responsibilities

  • Perform community-based crisis assessments to determine needed level of care, assess for safety, and formulate diagnosis.
  • Provide crisis counseling and intervention to reduce symptoms, provide education, and prevent admission to a more restrictive environment.
  • Collaboratively create a treatment plan with the consumer to outline goals.
  • Execute case management activities to assist consumers in accessing necessary care and services.
  • Monitor consumer progress with treatment goals and link to services.
  • Educate families so they understand the individual’s mental health symptoms and treatment.
  • Provide information on mental health, medication importance, and treatment compliance to individuals, families, and the community.
  • Complete electronic documentation daily as outlined in MCOT Operating Guidelines; documentation becomes part of the medical record.
  • Adopt a trauma-informed approach when interacting with the community and colleagues.
  • Meet divisional and program productivity standards.
  • Perform related work as assigned and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct in all professional activities.
  • Comply with Agency policies, procedures, and MCOT Operating Guidelines.
  • Act as designated crisis staff once weekly, entering and contacting new referrals, answering office calls, and responding to emergent and urgent referrals.
  • Provide additional assistance to the Agency, Program Director, Clinical Team Lead, or staff as requested.
