Role Purpose
The LPC-Associate will provide professional counseling and related behavioral health services under the supervision of an approved LPC Supervisor and in accordance with Texas law, the employee’s license and level of competence, applicable payer requirements, and AOC Outreach Services policies and procedures. The LPC-Associate will support clients in achieving their behavioral health goals through ethical, culturally responsive, and evidence-based counseling practices while maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.
The LPC-Associate is expected to practice within the scope of their provisional license and approved supervision arrangement and may not independently represent themselves as a fully licensed LPC when Texas law requires the LPC-Associate designation.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and/or group counseling services within the scope permitted by the LPC-Associate license and approved supervision plan.
- Complete clinical assessments, treatment planning, progress notes, and other required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients while promoting a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Implement appropriate counseling interventions based on client needs, treatment goals, clinical training, and evidence-based practices.
- Monitor client progress and communicate relevant changes, concerns, or barriers to treatment with the supervising LPC and appropriate members of the treatment team.
- Participate in ongoing clinical supervision and incorporate supervisory feedback into clinical practice.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable Texas laws, licensing board requirements, ethical standards, payer requirements, and AOC policies and procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws and organizational policies.
- Complete all required clinical, administrative, and compliance documentation within established timelines.
- Participate in case consultations, staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development activities as required.
- Coordinate with other service providers, caregivers, community resources, and members of the client’s support system when appropriate and authorized.
- Identify and appropriately respond to client safety concerns, including following established procedures for crisis intervention, risk assessment, and mandatory reporting.
- Maintain current licensure, supervision documentation, and other required professional credentials.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities related to the position as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current TexasLPC-Associate, LMSW, or LMFTlicense in good standing.
- Active supervision relationship with a Texas Board-approved Supervisor, as required.
- Knowledge of counseling principles, behavioral health practices, and ethical standards.
- Ability to provide counseling services within the scope of training, competence, and licensure.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional therapeutic relationships with clients and families.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, clinical staff, clients, families, and community partners.
- Commitment to ethical, culturally responsive, client-centered, and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to meet AOC Outreach Services’ documentation, compliance, scheduling, and productivity requirements.
- Must successfully complete all required onboarding, orientation, background checks, and organizational training.
Education
- Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health fieldfrom an accredited institution.
- Completion of educational and clinical requirements necessary to obtain and maintain Texas Associate licensure.
- Additional training or continuing education related to behavioral health, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, or specialized populations is preferred.
