Base pay range

$30.50/hr - $47.28/hr

Location: Kent Campus Hospital

Status: Full Time 80 Hours

Shift: Full-time

General Summary

Oversees and performs installation, maintenance, and repairs of all residential and industrial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and their associated equipment, including pneumatic and Building Automation Controls (DDC). Understands systems layout and troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, pneumatic valves, electric valves, heat transfer equipment, and other mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic components.

Note: This section may include a Medication Security Agreement requirement for staff with access to secured medication rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, oversees installs, and replaces control systems, industrial/residential air handlers, refrigeration equipment, and heating equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams or other instructions
  • Aids in the review of work orders, prioritizes and assigns work, updates status, and helps maximize performance of assigned staff
  • Tests functioning/malfunctioning systems and components using electrical, mechanical, digital and pneumatic controls for system optimization
  • Performs planned maintenance and repairs to refrigeration and air handling equipment of all types, sizes and temperature ranges; maintains critical spare parts inventories
  • Maintains records of repairs or equipment requiring future service; maintains accurate records of refrigerant usage as required by local, state, and federal agencies
  • Coordinates projects with staff or outside vendors; coordinates and maintains PM system with staff and outside vendors
  • Maintains safe exterior walking surfaces and assists with snow removal
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope of job responsibilities
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Credential(s): EPA Universal Technician
  • Experience: Eight years’ experience in HVAC/refrigeration repair and maintenance, blueprint reading, installation of HVAC systems, and ability to test, adjust and balance water and air moving equipment. Preferred: Ten years’ experience with related electrical and plumbing knowledge; four years in healthcare facility maintenance
