Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
MAKS Enterprises seeks an experienced Master Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join our engineering-focused team in Los Angeles. You will diagnose complex electrical and electronic issues, work on Chrysler/GM/Ford platforms, and collaborate with Engineering on failure analysis and new repair development.
The role emphasizes deep understanding of modules, circuits, and communications, with opportunities to advance toward advanced electronics diagnostics and engineering tracks.
MAKS is a globally recognized leader in rebuilding and remanufacturing automotive electronic modules, including TIPMs, ECMs/PCMs, BCMs, ABS modules, and other critical vehicle control systems. We serve consumers, repair shops, dealerships, and commercial partners across North America.
Our work sits at the intersection of automotive diagnostics, electronics, and engineering. We don't just replace parts—we investigate failures, understand how vehicle systems interact, develop repair solutions, and continually expand the range of automotive electronics we can successfully remanufacture.
We're a growing company that values people who are technically curious, willing to dig into difficult problems, and excited to keep learning.
Our core values are:
Trailblazers — We challenge the status quo and embrace innovation.
Value of Reputation — We earn trust through the quality of our work and how we treat people.
Accountability — We take ownership and follow through.
Empathy — We consider the experience and perspective of others.
Evolve or Bust — We keep learning, improving, and adapting.
MAKS is looking for an experienced Master Automotive Diagnostic Technician with deep expertise in Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram, General Motors, and/or Ford vehicles, particularly in electrical systems, advanced diagnostics, scan tools, vehicle communication networks, and electronic control modules.
This is not a traditional line-technician position.
Our ideal candidate may be someone who has spent years—or an entire career—becoming exceptional at automotive diagnostics and is ready for the next technical chapter of their career.
Maybe you're the technician everyone brings the difficult electrical problem to after other people have already replaced parts. You understand vehicle systems, know how to use service information and diagnostic equipment, and can logically work through a problem when the scanner doesn't simply tell you what's wrong.
But you may also be ready to move beyond the traditional cycle of repair orders, heavy mechanical work, and day-to-day dealership or shop production.
We want to take that automotive knowledge and put it to work in a different way.
At MAKS, you'll work hands-on with vehicles when necessary, but much of your work will focus on diagnostics, electronic modules, circuit boards, bench testing, failure analysis, and engineering development.
You'll partner closely with our Engineering team to investigate difficult failures, reproduce vehicle problems, diagnose modules at a deeper level, validate repairs, and help develop entirely new remanufacturing capabilities.
For the right person, this position provides a path from Master Automotive Technician → Advanced Electronics Diagnostics → Engineering Support and Development.
You do not need to already be an electrical engineer or an expert in component-level PCB repair. We can develop those skills.
What we're looking for is exceptional automotive diagnostic ability, strong electrical fundamentals, technical curiosity, and the aptitude and desire to understand what is happening inside the module—not just what the vehicle is telling you about it.
These are advantages, but we don't expect the right automotive diagnostician to already have all of them.
You're the person in the shop who gets handed the vehicle after someone says:
"We've already replaced everything it could be, and it still doesn't work."
You don't immediately reach for another part.
You pull up the wiring diagram. You look at the data. You check powers and grounds. You test the circuit. You look at what the modules are saying to each other. You determine what's actually happening and work backward until the evidence leads you to the failure.
That's the mindset we're looking for.
We can teach an exceptional automotive diagnostician more about circuit boards, electronic components, bench testing, and engineering processes.
It's much harder to teach someone the years of real-world vehicle knowledge and diagnostic instincts that come from solving genuinely difficult automotive problems.
This role is particularly well suited for someone who has reached a high level within automotive repair and is asking:
"What's next for me technically?"
At MAKS, the answer doesn't have to be another decade of repair orders.
You'll have the opportunity to take what you've learned diagnosing thousands of vehicles and begin applying it at the module, circuit, component, signal, product, and system level.
Depending on your abilities and interests, your development can include:
Our goal is to develop the right person into a valuable technical bridge between real-world automotive diagnostics and automotive electronics engineering.
You'll be successful here if you're the person others turn to when the scanner doesn't provide an obvious answer.
You approach problems logically. You understand how vehicle systems interact. You take measurements instead of guessing. And you want to know why something failed, not simply which part made the symptom disappear.
As you develop, that same diagnostic mindset will move from the vehicle into the module itself.
Instead of asking only:
"Why isn't this vehicle communicating with the ABS module?"
you'll begin asking:
"Why isn't the ABS module communicating? Is the problem in its power supply, CAN transceiver, processor, supporting circuitry, software, or somewhere else—and how can we prove it?"
That's the progression this position is designed to create.
You've spent years learning how vehicles actually work.
We want to give you somewhere new to take that knowledge.
Instead of spending every day moving from repair order to repair order, you'll have the opportunity to solve recurring automotive electronics problems, work alongside Engineering, investigate failures at a deeper level, and help develop repair solutions that can ultimately solve the same problem for thousands of vehicles.
This is still hands-on technical work—but it's a different kind of hands-on.
It's an opportunity to move from repairing vehicles one at a time to helping engineer solutions to the problems behind them.
MAKS is expanding into new automotive electronic systems and investing heavily in our technical and Engineering capabilities.
If you've become an exceptional automotive diagnostician and are ready to find out how far you can take that knowledge, we'd like to meet you.
