Job summary

Brad Manning Ford Inc. in DeKalb, Illinois seeks an experienced Diagnostic Automotive Technician to join the service team. You will diagnose complex issues, perform advanced troubleshooting, identify root causes, and recommend accurate repairs for many vehicle systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years automotive technician experience preferred.
  • Strong background in advanced diagnostics and vehicle troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical concerns.
  • Experience with modern diagnostic equipment and repair software.
  • ASE certifications preferred (Master Technician certifications are a plus).

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose complex automotive issues involving mechanical, electrical, drivability, and vehicle performance systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, service information, and technical resources.
  • Identify root causes of vehicle concerns and develop accurate repair recommendations.
  • Diagnose and repair major vehicle systems including Engine, Transmission, Electrical and Electronic, Steering and Suspension, Brakes, HVAC, and Advanced vehicle technology systems.
  • Complete thorough multi-point inspections and identify safety, maintenance, and repair needs.
  • Perform repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Document diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and recommendations clearly on repair orders.
  • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors and management regarding repair status, required work, and estimated completion times.
  • Utilize digital inspection tools and repair documentation systems to provide detailed vehicle information.
  • Stay current with evolving automotive technology, diagnostic procedures, and repair techniques.
  • Assist in mentoring and supporting developing technicians when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all shop procedures.

  • Ability to explain technical findings clearly to service team members
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks required in a repair environment
