Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg in San Diego, CA seeks an experienced litigation settlement paralegal to manage high-volume mass tort settlements and coordinate with attorneys, clients, and settlement administrators.

You will organize documents, run case management systems, perform data analysis, and assist with filing and reporting across multiple jurisdictions, while adhering to client guidelines and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate is required.
• 3+ years as a litigation paralegal, with settlement or claims administration experience preferred.
• Experience with mass tort or multidistrict litigation (MDL) and high-volume settlements.
• Familiarity with claims administration, medical records, lien resolution, and Medicare reporting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and manage settlement-related documents, internal case management and document review databases.
• Assist with intake, review, evaluation, management and organization of claims information using firm-approved technologies.
• Collaborate with attorneys to ensure timely progress of settlement workflows and documentation.
• Conduct settlement-related legal research and draft correspondence or reports.
• Perform FDA or MMSEA reporting as required.
• Provide updates on case statistics and settlements to attorneys and clients.
• Review settlement agreements and coordinate payment requests and disbursements.
• Maintain accurate case information in claims databases and internal systems.
• Draft and review court documents for filing in various jurisdictions.
• Communicate with opposing counsel and clients.
• Assist with claim assessments and processing of submissions.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, client guidelines, and legal/ethical requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
