Job summary

Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Chicago seeks an experienced litigation settlement paralegal with substantial case management experience to support the firm’s mass torts resolution team. The role coordinates and manages all phases of high-volume settlements for thousands of claimants, serving as the primary liaison among attorneys, clients, settlement administrators, opposing counsel, and vendors.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of litigation paralegal work, a Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate required.
• 3+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal with settlement or claims administration.
• Experience with mass tort or multidistrict litigation (MDL) and high-volume settlements.
• Extensive experience supporting large-scale settlements involving thousands of claimants.
• Familiarity with medical records, lien resolution, and Medicare reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with matter management systems, AI tools (Harvey), and Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Ability to adapt to new AI-assisted platforms and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, organize, and manage settlement-related documents and case databases.
• Assist intake, review, evaluation, and organization of claims information using approved technologies.
• Collaborate with attorneys to ensure timely progress of settlement workflows and documentation.
• Conduct settlement-related legal research and draft correspondence or reports as needed.
• Coordinate payment requests and assist with settlement disbursement procedures.
• Maintain accurate case information and update claims databases.
