Cushing Terrell, a multidisciplinary design firm, is seeking a Mass Timber Structural Engineer in Bend or Portland, Oregon. This senior project-level position offers a hybrid work schedule and involves leading structural engineering efforts on mass timber projects across all project phases.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience in mass timber systems, strong structural analysis skills, and excellent communication capabilities. Responsibilities include managing design, reviewing shop drawings, and mentoring junior engineers.
Position Description: The Mass Timber Structural Engineer is a senior project-level role based in our Bend or Portland office, with a hybrid schedule that supports in-office collaboration and flexible remote work. In this position, you lead the structural engineering scope on mass timber projects spanning delegated design, engineer of record assignments, and construction assistance, working closely with architects, fabricators, manufacturers, and contractors from early design through project delivery.
Day to day, you review and coordinate manufacturer shop drawings, run structural calculations for CLT, glulam, MPP, and related mass timber systems, develop connection details at the steel interface and hardware level, and resolve coordination challenges between design documents and fabrication realities. You manage RFIs, submittals, and construction coordination while staying focused on constructability, tolerances, and erection sequencing.
Position Salary Range*: The expected salary range for this position is $83,000 to $115,000 annually.
