Job description

  • East Coast -Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington DC
THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is seeking a Mass Timber Specialist to join its design-focused business development team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical professional within the AEC industry who is looking to take on a more client-facing role while leveraging their expertise in structural design, construction, and building systems.

In this role, you will be bridging the gap between technical design, business development, and consultative sales, working closely with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and other industry professionals to identify optimized mass timber solutions for a wide range of commercial projects. You will be acting as a trusted technical advisor, developing strong, credibility-based relationships and helping clients understand how mass timber can deliver practical, cost-effective, and design-conscious solutions.

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, communication skills, and a genuine interest in building long-term relationships within the construction and design community.

PERKS:
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package – Enjoy a well-rounded benefits package designed to support your health, wellness, and financial future.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan – Build toward your long-term financial goals with access to a 401(k) savings plan.
  • Performance-Based Bonus – Have the opportunity to earn additional compensation by hitting sales targets and exceeding quota expectations.
  • Vehicle & Fuel Support – Take advantage of vehicle payments and gas coverage to help support the travel required.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
  • Acting as a key market contact for bid requests, budget inquiries, and RFPs while collaborating with estimating, engineering, and project management teams to prepare accurate and competitive bid submissions.
  • Reviewing architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements and recommending cost-effective solutions that maintain the project’s design intent while optimizing designs for the company’s production capabilities.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with designers, developers, installers, contractors, and other key industry stakeholders to position the company as a preferred mass timber supplier.
  • Partnering with senior sales leadership to execute market growth initiatives, including coordinating lunch-and-learn sessions, attending industry trade shows, and hosting customer and industry plant tours.
  • Serving as the primary customer point of contact during project kickoff while ensuring engineering, estimating, detailing, and production teams have a clear understanding of the contracted scope, project requirements, and customer expectations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in architectural design, structural design, or construction management within the commercial construction industry.
  • 2+ years of experience actively reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing complex structural plans, building layouts, and shop drawings.
  • Previous experience with mass timber construction is considered an asset but is not required. Candidates with a strong understanding of steel, concrete, or light‑frame construction will be provided with training on the company’s mass timber products and systems.
  • Self‑motivation and initiative, proactively identifying opportunities, managing priorities, and moving projects forward with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication skills, effectively conveying technical information, project requirements, and value propositions to clients and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, effectively managing multiple client opportunities, bid deadlines, meetings, and project details simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Sound judgment and practical decision‑making, using available information to make informed decisions, particularly when project details are still evolving.
  • Confidence and professionalism in delivering technical presentations in person to clients, partners, and other industry stakeholders.
